The beauty of the swing away hitch is that it allows you access to the rear of your van or truck+cap when you have a motorcycle on a hitch carrier. Normally, one has to loosen the tie downs and gingerly tilt the motorcycle or unload the bike completely but with the swing-away hitch, just remove the dual safety carabiners and effortlessly swing it away.

I call this the Rocky Mountain Swinger and it's built beefy for 2" receivers. It weighs 67-70 lbs. The stationary and rotating members are 2x4" steel rectangular tubing, 1/4" wall with welded inserts to reduce twisting forces.

The spindle upon which the rotating member pivot is thick and rides on double bearings.

A stopper limits the extent of rotation, keeping it from banging the rear quarter panel of your vehicle if you happen to park on sloped terrain.

Slippery and tough 1/2" thick UHMW plastic divides the stationary and rotating members and helps engage and disengage rotation with minimal effort.

The motorcycle carrier top 2" receiver is angled at about 3° so that if your vehicle sags a bit, the bike will still generally remain vertical. A bottom 2" receiver means you can still tow a trailer.

Swing away hitch adapters/carriers for bicycles are common but they do not exist for motorcycles. Tested with 300+ lb. capacity XR600 with a full fuel tank.
